The Department of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) conducted raids at properties belonging to aged All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) minister Thangamani and his kinfolk.
An FIR used to be filed in opposition to aged Minister Thangamani, his son Dharanirajan and his wife Shanthi below the Prevention of Corruption Act Sections 13(2), 13 (1)(e), 109, 13 (2), 12, 13, (1), (b).
Thangamani used to be the Minister of Electricity and Prohibition and Excise Department from 2016 to 2021.
The DVAC acquired a tip that Thangamani used to be desirous about improper actions and that he deliberately enriched himself illicitly and bought properties and pecuniary resources in his name and his kinfolk’ names.
The DVAC then initiated the raid based on a written declaration at some stage in election nominations in 2016 and 2021, exhibiting Thangamani and his household had acquired resources value Rs 4.85 crore in extra.
Thangamani is the fifth AIADMK minister to gather back below DVAC radar.
