There has been fierce struggling with between local forces and Russian troops, Enerdohar’s Mayor Dmytro Orlov said in an on-line post, including that there had been casualties without giving small print. Earlier, Ukrainian authorities reported Russian troops hold been stepping up efforts to expend the plant and had entered the city with tanks.

“Because of true enemy shelling of buildings and devices of the ideal nuclear energy plant in Europe, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear energy plant is on fire,” Orlov said on his Telegram channel, citing what he called a risk to world security. He did no longer give small print.

On Thursday, the US and Britain launched sanctions on more Russian oligarchs, following on from EU measures, as they ratcheted up the stress on the Kremlin.
Sanctions hold “had a profound affect already,” said US President Joe Biden.
Russia calls its actions in Ukraine a “particular operation” that is no longer designed to bewitch territory but to execute its neighbour’s militia capabilities and remove what it regards as unhealthy nationalists. It denies focusing on civilians.
